Online and other non-store sales in 2019 are forecasted to total 165 billion dollars. The 2018 total was 146 billion dollars in sales. This is a projected 12 percent increase. Seasonal hires in 2019 are forecasted to total 560,000 temporary holiday workers. The 2018 total was 554,000 temporary holiday workers. This is a projected 1 percent increase. The average consumer is expected to spend 1,048 dollars this holiday season. They will spend 659 dollars on gifts for family, friends and co-workers, 227 dollars on non-gift purchases such as food & decorations, and 162 dollars on other purchases for themselves & family.
